Tips to Determine What to Write About on your Travel Blog

If you're a travel blogger, you know that you will be writing a lot more than normal.

If you're not a travel blogger yet, well... now you know!

A lot of your travel blog content you'll be writing about will come from the specific destinations you're traveling to and the many good and sometimes bad experiences you're having.

If you're like me, you will get writer's block more often than not. Sometimes I need to just sit down with a pen and a piece of paper (or in the more digital age, with Google docs and voice typing), to brainstorm ideas and flesh them out.

If you've done that and you're still struggling to come up with ideas, I'm here to help.

Use these tips to help you determine what to write about on your travel blog:

• Organic Search: Search on Google for topics related to what you want to write about or where you've been. You'll see what other creators have shared, and it should help you get the ideas flowing.
  
  
• Google Trends: Use Google Trends to find out what people are searching for in different countries, and when. You'll be able to identify when different words and phrases are trending, and maybe even that you should use a different word or phrase.
  
  
• Pinterest: Start typing your ideas into the Pinterest search bar to see what is being searched with the words or phrases you plan to use. This can help you brainstorm topics and see words and phrases to incorporate into your content.
  
  
• AI Tools: Use an AI tool like ChatGPT to help you brainstorm topics. You can then also use it to help flesh out any particular ideas and give you a first draft of a blog post. Never directly copy content from AI tools. Edit the content to humanize it. Make it your own by editing it to how you speak and with what your experiences have been.
  
  
• Social Media: See if there are any common questions on your posts (or posts on similar accounts) that you could use as a blog topic. Go to the explore tab of Instagram or TikTok and start searching words and phrases that apply to the blog topics you're writing about. If you're using TikTok, make sure to use the Creator Search Insights Tool.
  
  
• Search Marketing: Use a search marketing tool like SemRush to help you research topics that will help you rank in search engines.
  
  
• Competitors: Read other travel content creators' blogs about a similar topic or destination for inspiration. Do NOT copy them. Come up with your own content. But you can see what they're talking about and how they're talking about it to inform your own content.
