Where to Stay in Lima, Peru

If you're thinking of heading to Lima, Peru, I recommend staying in Miraflores, Barranco, or the historic center of Lima. These three areas felt the safest to me as a solo female traveler.

Where to Stay in Cusco, Peru

I recommend staying as close as you can to Plaza de Armas in Cusco in a place within your budget. Tours like the ones for Rainbow Mountain will only pick you up from a zone close to the center of the historic district near Plaza de Armas.

Where to stay in Aguas Calientes, Peru

If you're planning to go to Machu Picchu without a guided tour from Cusco, I recommend staying in the small launching pad town of Aguas Calientes for a few nights. This tiny town is very beautiful and sees many guests come and go as they make their way to one of the 7 Wonders of the World.
