About my time in Ireland

I visited Ireland in March of 2022. my friend Erica and I went on vacation there for 10 days.  when we first got there, we spent the first day around the city of Dublin settling in. then Erica and I rented a car and started a multi-day road trip around the country. We first started by driving west towards Galway. Along the way to Galway, we stopped in a few small cities to break up the drive and get more exploring in. Unfortunately by the time we got to go away, it was raining, but we embraced it anyways and explored the central part of the city.

The next morning we got up and drove to the Cliffs of Moher. Erica and I were only planning to hike a short distance of the cliffs, but then continued hiking further and further because the endpoint didn't seem that far away. however we were not prepared for hiking and had no water or food with us.  there was a point we should have turned back but we chose not to. looking back I am happy we went to the endpoint, but I wish we had prepared better.  we were lucky that someone gave us some water along the hike.  as for food, we didn't have anything until we got back. so that meant we didn't eat until about 3:30 p.m. that day.

We continued on further south and made our way down to Cork. Cork is a city that I have family heritage from, so I wanted to visit this city while we were in Ireland.  we primarily stuck to the city center, but I wish we had explored more of the outskirts of town.

We continued making our way Northeast back towards Dublin. St Patrick's Day was only a few short days away, and that was something we wanted to be in Dublin for.  it was such an incredible experience, from the parades to the camaraderie, to staying out drinking until 4:00 a.m.  Needless to say, we slept in the next day.

To finish up the trip, we spent the last few days in Dublin visiting many of the iconic spots,  like the Guinness Factory, the Trinity College Library, St Patrick's Cathedral, and more.

While in Ireland, my friend Erica and I spent about 5 days in Dublin as well as going on a 5-day roadtrip across to Galway, down to Cork, and back northeast to Dublin.

Dublin

If you're flying to Ireland, you're likely passing through Dublin. Erica and I had such a great time exploring the city. You need a few days at a minimum to see this city.

Galway

Erica and I didn't spend much time in Galway, and unfortunately most of our time, the weather was rainy. We still explored the city but I would love to go back when the weather is better.

The Cliffs of Moher

Truly an incredible sight to see. If you're going to Ireland, you can't skip the Cliffs of Moher. Pictures don't do it justice. And Erica and I were so in awe that we accidentally hiked to the end without water. Oops!

Adare

As Erica and I made our way from the Cliffs of Moher down to Cork, we passed through the city of Adare. This area has buildings with thatched roofs, so we wanted to see this variety in architecture. And we had the most delicious dinner.

Cork

Visiting Cork was a special experience for me. Some of my family's lineage comes from this area, so it was great to where we come from. Erica and I stayed in the city center but explored nearby areas as well.

Kilkenny

Love castles? You'll love Kilkenny! This lovely city in Ireland is filled with charm. We got to see the whole city from the top of a ferris wheel!
